The Cowichan Valley Citizen has a great article featuring the field hockey stars of Cowichan who duked it out in Calgary as the Dinos took on the UBC T-Birds over the Thanksgiving weekend.
“Lockhart and Kemmler, both from the Cowichan Valley, are now playing with the University of Calgary Dinos.
On Sunday, Oct. 11 the duo helped the Dinos to their first win in nearly 10 years over the mighty University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.
The successful outcome for Lockhart and Kemmler meant UBC’s Cowichan contingent of Milosevich, Caitlin Evans, Diana Roemer, Kirsten Bertsch and Miranda Mann were on the losing end of the 2-1 battle.
Not surprisingly, Cowichan players accounted for two of the game’s three goals. Lockhart kicked things off tipping the ball up and over the diving UBC goaltender to put Calgary up 1-0.
The Dinos added to the lead and were up 2-0 when Milosevich put in a rebound from a short corner attempt to end the Dinos’ shutout bid.”
The article also talks about the large number of Cowichanians(?) who suited up for the Vikes last weekend here in Calgary. Not surprisingly, there are a number of Cowichan players currently featuring on the Canadian national team as well.
The Dinos are proud to have Lockhart and Kemmler wearing the red and black and contributing to their efforts this season. Go Dinos!
